A timber gazebo cut into a steep bank

A gazebo for a steep garden in Bramhope. A huge patio already sat on the lower level, so the gazebo needed a flat platform of its own. That meant taking 35 tons of earth out of the bank first.

The garden was extremely steep and a huge patio had already been built on the lower level. To stand a gazebo anywhere sensible, we had to make the ground level first.

What we built

35 tons of earth came out to get that platform, which is no mean feat on a garden that steep. The job ran to around three weeks, a full week of which went on erecting the gazebo itself. It is a fair example of using the space you have rather than the space you would like.
